Mangrove conservation area is part of protected areas aimed at ensuring the balance of ecological life as well as preserving natural resources according to the principle of sustainable development and environmentally friendly.

The total area of Surabaya East Coastal (Pamurbaya) conservation is 2.503,9 Ha that covers several sub districts, including: GunungAnyar, Rungkut, Sukolilo, and Mulyorejo.

Pamurbaya has been determined as Prominent Area for Birds by Birdlife International. It means that the area plays important role internationally for biodiversity preservation, either in global, regional, and sub-regional level. The biodiversity includes: Mangrove (15 species), Birds (137 species), Primate Mammals (7 species), and Insect (53 species).
